The weekend

Friday Albert came up and we watched the DVD my brother got me for my birthday. It was very idyllic and cute like most Miyazaki's films. Slept in most of the day Saturday. Wanted to go kayaking, but didn't want to get up that early. And Magic Mountain plans were canceled because the we would have been so enervated from the heat that it probably wouldn't have been fun. So instead, we had breakfast at 3pm. I needed an external hard drive, so we went to Fry's in the valley and then to Barnes and Nobles to buy Harry Potter. I haven't started it yet because I want to wait until I finish summer school so I can read it all at once. The only reason I kind of don't want to wait is because I'm scared to hear spoilers. The enormity of people wanting to tell you about the book is horrible. I can't believe people would do that. I wish I could just occlude my mind from hearing anything about the book. Anyway, we left B&N and went into the mall it was attached to, but the mall was really small so we just looked for an egress and went for dinner. We went to Hometown Buffet for dinner; I thought I was hungry, but I was pretty much stuffed after one plate.

Last night Kristin and Val took me to Dave and Busters. As a neophyte at drinking, I didn't know what I liked so I just ordered a strawberry/pina colada cocktail that they had on the menu because it looked really good in the picture. It tasted good, but they didn't give me a cherry on top like the picture had it. I was implacable until I got my own cherry, so when the waiter came back I asked for my cherry, and he brought me 4. Haha... I told Albert this story today, and he was like "but you don't even like cherries." Hmm.. maybe it was the alcohol. My drink was ok, I liked it a lot until I drank all the strawberry syrup. Then I could start tasting the rum a bit. The main reason I don't like drinking is because I think alcohol adultrates the taste of the drink. But Val ordered a midori sour, which doesn't taste like alcohol at all. I think thats my new favorite drink that I can order at a bar the next time I go. I liked the drinks at D&B, they had just the right amount of alcohol, not too much. I felt more blithe after one drink, instead of tired and sleepy as I usually do if I drink too much. I think I like over 21 places better than over 18 places. Because at most over 18 clubs people are dresed so tawdry. It's nice to just feel a little older and to just go out and relax instead of try to party all the time.
